Taraba Health Sector Witnessing a New Face of Service – Governor Ishaku
The Taraba State Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku says the Health sector is witnessing a new face of service in the state.
He made this statement today at the flag-off ceremony of the fourth round National Immunization plus days campaign at the Maternity Health Clinic in Jalingo.
Governor Darius Ishaku appreciated the staff of the State Ministry of Health for taking the lead in liaising with the Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency in the quest to eradicate poliomyelitis in the state.
The event is marked in all the 36 states of the Federation including FCT abuja, as a follow- up of efforts to boosting the immunity of children against polio virus infection.
The collaboration between the state and UNICEF under the Canadian government has yielded results in the Hard-To-Reach Programme, increasing the number of settlements from 350 to 650 now with over 138 people employed.
It is also worthy note to know that Taraba state has joined the list of states providing performance best financing Programme, which started in Ardo-kola local government area with a plan of expanding it to all local government areas soon.
This is geared towards improving the quality of health care services across the state.
The renovation of General Hospital Wukari has already started while that of Bambur and Gembu will commence soon.
The Chairman Governing Board, Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), Hon. Victor Bala Kona gave his support to the Governor and implored all parents to avail themselves and their wards for free vaccination under the Rescue Mission Agenda of his Excellency which will commence from 22nd April – 25th April, 2017 in all 168 political wards of the 16 Local government areas of the state.
