Philanthropist Lauds Ishaku Anti Grazing Bill

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba state has continue to receive accolades for an anti grazing bill which is presently pending in the state House of Assembly.

Though the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria, Taraba state branch has frowned at the bill threatening to tread alł legitimate paths to halt the bill  from seeing the light of the, but persons who spoke to TarabaSquare News opined that the bill if pass into law, the incessant upheavals  between farmers and herdsmen would be a thing of the past.

In an exclusive interview with our reporter yesterday in Jalingo, a philanthropist, Engineer Mathias Luka Agbu, believed that the bill will go a long way to address the influx of herders  into the state.

According to him “the issue of itinerant nomads who are not resident or indigenous herders must be taking serious as they constitute the bulk of the crisis, while the indigenous Fulanis are always at the receiving end.”

The  bill as stated by him should not be ” seen as anti Fulanis but should attempt to protect indigenous and find a way of capturing or a form of forensic registering all those who engage in cattle business in the state.”

All parties as suggested by him should be invited to the ” table to full participate and create a bill that is not only fair to all but also accepted and just to all.”

Agbu who doubles as the founder, Luka Agbu Memorial Foundation suggested that a proper implementation plan ” that will see government investing in the development of the sector as well as making viable business option for teeming Tarabans considering the huge potential we have as a state to become leading producer of livestock  in Nigeria” be put in place.

Describing Ishaku’ s action as the ” right step in the right direction” which according to him “is an attempt to take the issues of farmers and herdsmen clashes by the horn” the need for all a sundries to work tirelessly round the clock for the bill to succeed, he said has become necessary.
