Federal Executive Council Approves $5.7 Billion For Mambilla Power Project


The federal executive council has approved the award of contract for the construction of the Mambilla hydro power plant in Taraba state.

The project which is a joint initiative of Nigeria and china will gulp five point seven nine two billion dollars ($5.792bn) and is expected to be completed in seventy two months.

Minister of power, works and housing, Babtunde Fashola told state house correspondents after wednesday's federal executive council meeting that the three thousand megawatts capacity Mambilla hydro power plant project when completed would boost power supply in Nigeria.

The minister said the Mambilla power project which was conceived about fourty five years ago, also has the capacity to help Nigeria fulfill it's commitment to the global climate change agreement.
